Art of Gratitude Projects

Week 1 * Growing Gratitude with Julia Osterc Oct. 4-10th

Gratitude grows when we tend to the seeds!  We grow stronger, too, when we get in touch with what makes our hearts sing with delight. You will learn several mixed-media techniques as we create an art journal page and then bring it to life with a 3 dimensional project for the home (using paint, found objects, textiles, and jewelry supplies).  You are encouraged to dig deep into your roots and surroundings (including nature, sentimental collections, and supply stash) to incorporate aspects from your one and only YOU-nique life, loves, and story to celebrate life!  You’re welcome to collaborate with your children. I’ve done this with my own children during past projects that inspired these projects and it was always a beautiful, blessed time.  Let’s plant and nurture a garden of gratitude together. ❤     Join us now

Week 2 * Finding gratitude in nature with Lucy Brydon Oct. 11-17th

Finding gratitude in nature: a monoprinting journey using nature’s bounty.

Lucy Brydon will be teaching you how to create monoprints using natural and found objects, added to with hand cut stencils. We shall be using a gelli plate although purchase of this is not necessary for the class as we shall explore alternative ways of making prints. We shall then use these as a spring board for a mixed media piece adding details with other media.    Join us now

Week 3 * Vision Book with Julissie Saltzberg Oct. 18-24th

Spend the week with Julissie exploring what your heart wants and letting the universe know about it.

Create a powerful tool that will help define your hopes, dreams, & goals.

Visualize what you want, clearly define your purpose and use words, images, and visual illustrations to build your book.

It’s time to start visualizing what your heart wants.

Week 4 * Intuitive Gratitude with Lara Cornell Oct. 25-31st

We will throw all caution to the wind, release all negative thoughts, and jump in with no plan this week! It’s all about intuition, flow, gratitude, a child-like curiosity and desire to just play.

In this class we will start by making background layers with inks, experimenting with how they flow around the page and how the colors blend (should you choose to use more than one color) and how they react with water. I highly recommend you do more than one at a time so you don’t feel pressure. It’s just about playing and not worrying about the outcome.

Then we’ll add papers and tap into our inner child for guidance (a helpful tip, if you happen to have children in your life, ask them!), and start doodling/drawing on the paper.

We will also be using pinterest to build an inspirational quote library to add to your piece to make it uniquely yours (if you don’t have pinterest, google searching would be just fine as well).

Leave the inner critics out of it and let’s just have fun!     Join us now

Week 5 * Layers of Gratitude with Mary Pressel Cline Nov. 1-7th

We will construct a guardian to watch over your tribe.  Every day we will spend 10-15 minutes layering and mark making a background.  Magic will happen when we add a Guardian.  I am so looking forward to guiding you on this journey.     Join us now

Week 6 *A Bouquet of Wild Thanks with Julia Alter Nov. 8-14th

A Bouquet of Wild Thanks: A Mixed Media Field Trip of Paint, Paper & Poetry

Gather your favorite papers, scissors and paste! Your own stunning mixed media bouquet awaits you just at the end of this path!

First, we will paint a beautiful, intuitively-colored abstract background. Then we’ll layer and play as we assemble and arrange our paper stems and blooms. We’ll then glue it all together for a spectacular blooming art piece!

We’ll also dip our pretty toes into the clear stream of poetry this week with easy writing exercises that invite a sense of thankfulness and deep connectedness to your most awesome self. (You won’t believe the inner poet that’s been hiding from you!)

Your reward for embarking on this week’s art journey will be your rich, multi-layered paper bouquet and some fresh, poetic pieces of writing!     Join us now

Week 7 * Ordinary Extraordinary with Kimberly Ans Nov. 15-21st

Our creations this week will focus on using objects that we surround ourselves with as the inspiration for our gratitude practice. Our final work will be an intuitive, abstracted image that is inspired by realism without being anchored to it.

I firmly believe in creating a strong foundation of technical skills to build confidence and understanding of supplies.  With a strong knowledge of materials you will free yourself to explore creative possibilities without wondering if you are doing it “right”. To support your skill development we will, through a short series of exercises, explore a variety of ways to use our materials. We will start with exploring drawing and developing our idea and then move onto to adventures in paint! We will see how artists have used the everyday to inspire their art and develop our own work that is inspired by our own surroundings and the objects that we wish to honour.

Our final painting will be a joyful explosion of colour, texture and life that celebrates our own surroundings and makes the ordinary extraordinary!    Join us now

Week 8 * A Grateful Girl * Art, Heart, & Soul with Chasity Heck  Nov. 22-28th

In this class, you will be painting a mixed media portrait of a darling, whimsical girl who reflects your sweet and joyful inner-self.

We will be creating a beautiful background of layers and colors using some fun, easy, creative techniques.

From there, we will then add in a gorgeous little girl that is blooming with joy along with some meaningful words of gratitude that really speak to what is in your heart.

We will also be on a week-long soul journey together, reflecting on mantras like: learning to follow our hearts, cherishing our journey, and believing in ourselves.  We will have daily journal prompts to work through which will help us find the path we were meant to be traveling. And finally, we will have a daily creativity activity to help reinforce what we’ve been learning about ourselves and how to live to our fullest potential.     Join us now

Bonus * Reflections of Blessings – Art Journal with Misty Olsen Nov. 29th

Life as we know it is filled with obstacles and challenges. I believe that when we are faced with loss or heartache, reflecting on the blessings to fill your heart with gratitude will heal and sooth us. It’s our readiness to show appreciation for the small blessings that make the big impacts in our lives. So, I have created an art journal so that we can do daily reflections of the small blessings that made our lives wonderful that day.

This bonus project is to share and document this journey of gratitude. For this project, we will be creating a long-stitch art journal for our daily reflections of blessings.    Join us now
